Annelle Staal’s voice is consistently described as “velvet.” It has captured the attention of audiences in the broader NC area and abroad through tours across the country and internationally online. Staal’s fanciful, sultry stage presence and poignant lyricism collided with co-producer Ben Youngblood’s talent for guitar and composition in 2023. By the end of 2024 the two had begun creating with Ben’s fellow Miami Frost School of music album Aldo Canals, making for a trio of multi-instrumentalist producers and songwriters.

The Annelle Staal Trio presents a fresh take on southern indie, with Americana-dance grooves and jazz-inspired improvisation. United by a deep storytelling instinct, audiences are glued to the trio’s dynamic performances that are as inventive as they are emotionally resonant. With backgrounds ranging from in roots, gospel, theater and metal, the Trio’s sound is surprisingly distinct while also effortlessly genre-bending and boundary defying.
